Corsham is a historic market town and civil parish in west Wiltshire. Corsham has a rich history dating back to Saxon times. The town was once a centre for the wool trade, and later became known for its stone quarrying. Today, Corsham is a popular tourist destination, with its charming High Street, independent shops, and historic buildings.

The main tourist attraction is Corsham Court, a stately home that was once owned by the Methuen family. The house is now open to the public and houses a collection of art and furniture.

Corsham Court

Imagine an Elizabethan country house nestled amidst rolling English hills, its walls whispering tales of noble families and artistic treasures. That's Corsham Court, a Wiltshire gem where history and beauty intertwine.

The Elizabethan style front of the building.

Wander through opulent State Rooms adorned with masterpieces by Van Dyck, Titian, and Canaletto. The Picture Gallery, a Robert Adam creation, stuns with its intricate plasterwork and grand scale. Each room, from the regal Drawing Room to the Queen Victoria-graced State Bedroom, is a testament to refined taste and aristocratic life.

Today, Corsham Court welcomes visitors to explore its wonders. Guided tours unlock the secrets of the house and its art collection, while the landscaped gardens offer a tranquil escape. It's a place to be awestruck by artistry, captivated by history, and charmed by the idyllic village of Corsham, just beyond the Court's walls.

Today, twelve beneficiaries call the almshouses home, while the schoolroom remains a time capsule of inkwells, quills, and lessons.

Volunteers bring the history to life, making the complex a vibrant community hub. Discover this unique treasure, perfect for history lovers and curious minds.
